Dr. Jürgen Eck studied biology at Darmstadt Technical University, with an emphasis on microbiology and molecular biology. After being awarded a doctorate (Dr. rer. nat) in biochemistry and molecular genetics, he joined the founding team of BRAIN AG in 1994.
On 1 July 2015, Dr. Eck was appointed Chief Executive Officer of BRAIN AG. Since 21 June 2000, he was first appointed to the Management Board as CTO with responsibility for Research and Development.
Since the foundation of BRAIN AG Dr. Eck has been responsible for the technological basis of the company. Dr. Eck is also responsible for the academic collaboration network of BRAIN, involving many national and international research institutes and universities within Europe, Asia, and the USA.
Dr. Eck is a member of many commissions and advisory committees, such as the Association for General and Applied Microbiology (VAAM), the DECHEMA Committee for Applied Biotransformation and the Board of Trustees of the DECHEMA Research Institute in Frankfurt. Dr. Eck is also a member of the regional Executive Board of the Association of the Chemical Industry (VCI) in Hesse and member of the Supervisory Board of Enzymicals AG in Greifswald. He is co-founder of the Center for Molecular Evolution and Biodiversity e.V. based in Darmstadt.
