Enzyme panels for rapid screening:
Why settle for standard enzymes when you can go specific?

Bespoke Enzyme Panels powered by MetXtra™

Why use standard enzymes when you can have a specialized selection of enzymes tailored to your specific application? This massively increases the success rate, saves development time and resources. Why limit yourself to enzymes found in public databases when there are novel enzymes in large private databases that the competition hasn’t yet utilized? This creates a massive competitive advantage through innovation. On top of that, the option to further refine the best hits via enzyme engineering, combined with clear usage rights and IP access, creates a complete and highly attractive package for industrial partners.

Enzyme panels enable rapid screening of enzyme candidates for a given biocatalytic transformation.
At BRAINBiocatalysts, enzyme candidates are selected using the MetXtra™ platform which integrates a large proprietary metagenomic database, public sequence databases, and AI-designed enzymes with a modular, customizable discovery pipeline to meet development targets.

Selected sequences are synthesized, expressed, and samples are delivered in a standardized plate format suitable for high-throughput assays. Customers can test the enzymes on their relevant substrates at desired conditions enabling rapid identification of active enzymes and early assessment of catalytic performance.

Each challenge gets its own specialized panel

The enzyme collections provided are specifically selected for a single client's unique requirements, taking into account exact substrate scope, specificity, and/or challenging process conditions. Leveraging MetXtra™ workflows, these panels deliver application-tailored enzymes that address performance gaps off-the-shelf solution cannot resolve.

  • Customer challenge drives enzyme selection: Bioinformatics and AI-assisted in-silico discovery and evaluation including sequence as well as structural analysis. Methods include sequence BLAST, Multiple Sequence Alignments, structure prediction, function prediction, de-novo protein design and multiple clustering & scoring steps for candidate prioritization.

  • Unique sequences from large databases: Access to proprietary metagenomes from diverse habitats with > 99 % novelty (compared to publicly accessible sequence data) and 5-fold higher diversity than UniProt. Additionally, also public databases will be screened for enzymes that have not yet been discovered for the desired reaction. To complete the selection, AI-generated enzyme variants will also be included.

  • Delivered ready-to-screen: 48 lyophilized samples in duplicates after gene expression in E. coli, 96-well format preparations compatible with automated or high-throughput assays.

  • Commercial use: We offer different models for the commercial use of the enzymes provided, enabling us to offer the right solution for every client.

Your enzymes of choice

Fast and cost-effective

The first step towards developing a new enzyme should be simple, fast, and affordable. The discovery workflows are tailored to each specific research question, yet these bioinformatics- and AI-supported workflows can be completed quickly. Enzyme production in E. coli as well as sample preparation follow reliable, established workflows that have been in use for years. Overall, we can therefore offer a fast turnaround time, from purchase order to delivery, at an attractive price. This is how we aim to support innovation in industries and drive more biosolutions.
