The complexity of modern drug therapeutic APIs is ever increasing and the traditional distinction between small molecules and biopharma is disappearing and merge into what is known as new drug modalities. As researchers understand more about the biochemical systems which are targeted, and invent ever more sophisticated products, manufacturing methods must keep pace. Traditional chemical manufacturing methods are starting to be inadequate and biotechnology-derived drug design and manufacture is significantly gaining traction. This is increasingly facilitated by AI- and ML-supported computational methods.Our one-day meeting will be held just south of Frankfurt/M at the head quarters of BRAIN Biotech AG in Zwingenberg, Germany, on April 15th. We are bringing together key opinion leaders and an interested audience to learn about biotechnology for new drug modalities.Topics that will be discussed are centered around three themes:• Enzyme discovery and biocatalysis for pharma APIs• AI and ML for protein design and binders for non-druggable targets• Technologies for peptides and non-natural nucleosides and oligonucleotidesTo stimulate interaction between speakers and the audience, we plan ample time for mingling as well as a panel discussion with questions from the audience to address any topics that are left untouched during the day.
