  • Post-doctoral studies at the Group of Prof. C.R. Hutchinson at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, USA; working on multi-functional and multi-enzyme complexes for bacterial natural product biosynthesis
  • 1997: Group leader at Canadian biotech start-up TerraGen Diversity Inc., employing the newly developed metagenome technology to discover novel biosynthetic pathways for unknown natural products

  • 2000: Project leader to strengthen the BRAIN team for metagenome technology
  • Organized and established a team for microbial strain development
  • Since 2003: Head of Technology Unit Microbial Strain Development; involved in the respective business development activities
  • Responsible for the overall coordination of the strategic industrial alliance “Zero Carbon Food Print” (ZeroCarbFP), initiated by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF)
  • 2013: appointed as Vice President and as authorized signatory of BRAIN Biotech AG
  • Nearly 25 years professional experience in industrial biotechnology
